Grace Place for Children & Families

Grace Place is a faith-based, non-profit neighborhood center providing after-school and summer, early childhood, literacy, and youth development programs for at-risk children and impoverished families in Golden Gate City. They provide free educational programs that teach children and families the skills they need to succeed in school and life. Their mentoring program offers encouragement helping youth develop talents, gifts, and confidence. Their Building a Bright Future vision includes:

• increasing their ministry from 170 to 210 children
• expanding their new soccer league for healthy recreation and team skills
• improving Bright Beginnings program teaching motherhood skills
• increasing adult proficiency with English as a second language

Hundreds of lives have been touched through Grace Place in 2007:

• over 90 mothers were encouraged and equipped to be their child's first teacher
• over 100 pre-K children learned skills to prepare for success in school
• over 50 struggling elementary children and 20 at-risk youth gained academic skills through Grace Place's safe, engaging and enriching experiences. They learned to set goals and believe in themselves through positive mentoring with people who care.
• over 55 adults improved their mastery of English through twice a week literacy classes.

A new building is planned to provide classrooms, a larger multi-media space with library, an office suite with reception area and workroom, and bathrooms. A web site is currently under construction. www.graceplacenaples.org.
